About Us

Launched in 1985 as Center City Ministries, a collaborative church effort, Victory House of Lehigh Valley provided shelter to those who had no place to lay their head at night. Today, we continue our services in the belief that faith can make things new. In our 25 years of service, we've opened the doors to a changed life for more than 3,500 men.

Our Mission: Victory House is a community-based organization committed to addressing the problems of homeless men. We provide shelter services and resources to support a transition toward self-sufficient living. This work is an expression of our personal faith, hope and compassion.

Our Vision: Victory House strives to be recognized as a leader of male homeless services in the Lehigh Valley, providing a continuum of care of emergency shelter, transitional housing, case management and treatment, advocacy, drug and alcohol support, follow-up and aftercare/respite care, life skills education, counseling, resources and supportive services leading homeless clients in the transition to independence, self-determination, personal change, renewal, and self-sufficiency.

Program Participants:
Both veteran and non-veteran homeless men in the Lehigh and Northampton County between the ages of 18- 65.  Most of the participants suffer from substance abuse or have a mental/ physical disability. The homeless men that participate in Victory House’s program must demonstrate a willingness to work hard to achieve independence to become a productive member of the community.

Program Services: VH provides a comprehensive array of supportive services and collaborates with several community-based organizations to provide a complete service system that offers:

  • Three meals a day
  • emergency shelter
  • transitional housing
  • Case Management
  • Counseling
  • Substance Abuse Support Groups
  • Health Center
  • Employment Assistance/Advocacy
  • Housing Placement Assistance
  • Life Skills Education
  • Aftercare

Results: At the time they enter Victory House, homeless men are often in crisis, struggling with chemical dependencies, and facing physical and mental problems. When they leave Victory House:

  • 40-45% of clients go on to independent living arrangements appropriate to their situations
  • 50-60% secure employment, and
  • 75-80% remain drug and alcohol free

In 2010, 12,378 nights of shelter were provided for 98 men and 58 men transitioned into independent housing.
